Why is National boasting about taxing New Zealanders?
Why is National boasting about taxing New
Zealanders?
The Government’s boast about income
redistribution takes campaigning from the right and
governing from the left to a whole new level, says ACT
Leader David Seymour.
“The National Party has quit hiding its socialist streak – it’s boasting about it,” says Mr Seymour.
“When Steven Joyce literally puts out press releases boasting about increased income redistribution, it’s easy to see why National needs ACT to put the right back into centre-right.
“With Bill English safely overseas, Steven Joyce announced that the top 10 per cent of households now pay 37.7 per cent of taxes – more than when National were accusing the opposition of ‘communism by stealth’. Are taxpayers meant to think this is a good thing?
“Once again, ACT has to ask: what’s the point in electing a National government that taxes and spends like a Labour one?”
