Questions Surround Landcorp Farm Sales
New Zealand First wants reassurance that the sale of nine Landcorp farms is not a forerunner to another state asset sale.
“Landcorp can buy and sell all they like as part of their commercial operation but is the SOE being told to ‘tidy up the books’ to ready itself for sale,” says Primary Industries and State-owned Enterprises Spokesperson Richard Prosser.
“What New Zealand First would like, is reassurance from the government that Landcorp’s ‘reconfiguring of their portfolio’ is not reducing their overall footprint.
“Landcorp should be increasing their delivery of social good outcomes, such as training and research, not reducing it through a sell off of land.
“New Zealand First certainly doesn’t want Landcorp farms falling into foreign hands,” says Mr Prosser.
“We have no problem with Ngai Tahu buying the farms at appropriate commercial rates.”
