Government Lack of Action on Fisheries Management Appalling

GOVERNMENT LACK OF ACTION ON FISHERIES MANAGEMENT APPALLING

The government is choosing to sit on its hands rather than carry out a Commission of Inquiry into fisheries management, says New Zealand First.

“The government’s lack of action on the issues with fisheries management is appalling,” says Fisheries Spokesperson Richard Prosser.

“The Quota Management System is not working which is why we have clear policy solutions and called for a Commission of Inquiry back in June.

“It’s time to sort it – both our recreational and commercial fishers need certainty,” says Mr Prosser.
