Appointments to NZ Film Commission Board

Two new members have been appointed to the New Zealand Film Commission Board, Arts, Culture and Heritage Minister Maggie Barry has announced.

Pania Tyson-Nathan and Tom Greally will replace outgoing Board members Cameron Harland and Charles Finney.

“It’s an exciting time to be working in the New Zealand screen sector,” Ms Barry says. “I’m pleased to welcome these two new members to the Board, and am certain their diverse experiences and perspectives will be valuable.”

Pania Tyson-Nathan is the CEO of New Zealand Māori Tourism, a national organisation which represents over 200 Māori tourism businesses.

Prior to taking on this role, she has owned and operated successful hospitality and retail businesses, giving her inside knowledge of the importance of tourism for Māori economic growth and a full understanding of the workings of local and central government.

Tom Greally is Chair of Booktrack, a technology company which creates synchronised soundtracks for audio and e-books. He is a member of the Callaghan Innovation Stakeholder Advisory Group and has 10 years’ experience in the film industry as Chairman of Park Road Post and General Manager with Weta Digital.

Sitting Board Member Chris Hampson has also had his term extended until June 2017.

“I would like to thank outgoing members Cameron Harland and Charles Finney for their valuable contribution to the Commission,” Ms. Barry says.

Ms Tyson-Nathan and Mr Greally will take up their appointments on 1 December with their terms ending 31 August 2019.
