Brett Hudson welcomes UFB expansion in Wellington
More Wellingtonians will have access to faster and more reliable internet, says Ōhāriu-based National List MP Brett Hudson.
“Today’s announcement that the Government is extending Ultra-Fast Broadband to 151 additional towns, plus 43 suburban fringe areas is wonderful to hear,” says Mr Hudson.
“This expansion is great news for the country, and will greatly improve internet connectivity for those in rural areas.
“$14.5 million will be spent bringing fibre access to many of the Wellington region’s rural areas, with the rollout set for completion by 2019.
“Improved connectivity is valuable in growing our regional economy, driving innovation, and supporting our local education and health services.
“Much of Ōhāriu is already making the most of the UFB network since the rollout’s initial phase, and it’s exciting to know that more locals will benefit from improved connectivity in the near future.
More information about the rollout is available at www.broadband.govt.nz.
