Race Relations Commissioner calls for speech restrictions, jumps shark

ACT Leader David Seymour says the Prime Minister should retire the current Race Relations Commissioner.

“I wonder if the Race Relations Commissioner sees the irony of using Holocaust Memorial Day to call for government departments to police what people say. It shows she’s out of her depth, and the role has gone to her head.

“Having bureaucrats police the internet is neither achievable nor desirable.”

Mr Seymour also believes the Commissioner’s behaviour is the kind of thing provoking political upheaval around the globe.

“It’s this kind of outspoken we-know-best attitude from unelected busybodies that leads to things like Donald Trump getting elected.

“We recommend the Prime Minister provide the Commissioner a remedial course on Voltaire: ‘I may disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it’.”
