Jetstar Deal Should Never Have
Flown
Handing a lucrative government travel
contract to Jetstar, a foreign owned airline, is
outrageous when we have our own national airline, says New
Zealand First Leader and Northland MP Rt Hon Winston
Peters.
“Our taxpayer owned national carrier Air NZ
should be the preferred airline of choice for all domestic
travel – as well as international travel.
“Typically
National is paying lip service to ‘Buy NZ’
claims.
“The Ministry of Business Innovation and
Employment (MBIE) has made a major blunder in handing the
contract over to Australian owned Jetstar for travel by all
government agencies.
“If MBIE believes there will be
cost savings and greater efficiencies they need to think
again - Jetstar has an appalling record for delays and
cancelling flights without notice.
“Air NZ should be
the preferred airline of choice on all domestic routes –
not Jetstar or any other foreign owned airline,” says Mr
Peters.

Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik... More
