CAKES AND SEWAGE JUST DON’T MIX

A cake decorator awarded a $7 million contract to build a sewage plant is a result of New Zealand importing corruption, says New Zealand First Leader and Northland Member of Parliament Rt Hon Winston Peters.

“The contract was let by Indian born Vivek Goel who was employed as assets manager with the Westland District Council.

“Mr Goel has a chequered past and has been stood down from his position after the Serious Fraud Office started investigating his actions at the council.

“He came to New Zealand from India in 2005 and a year later was bankrupted after operating a liquor store and other businesses.

“The cake shop proprietor, Neha Bubna, might be brilliant at baking and decorating cakes but it seems obvious she would have little understanding about building a sewage plant.

“Other businesses were bypassed by Goel when he awarded the contract to Neha Bubna who did not even know about the multimillion dollar deal.

“This farcical situation is the direct outcome of the government’s out of control immigration policy and some foreign nationals bringing their corrupt practices to New Zealand,” says Mr Peters.
