Only ACT says ‘NO’ to Winston

ACT was the only party to oppose Winston Peters’ appointment to the Security and Intelligence Committee this morning.

“It was baffling to see the rest of Parliament roll over and nominate this man to such an important Committee, especially in a time of international uncertainty,” says ACT Leader David Seymour.

“Winston Peters lacks the diligence for this role. Simon Upton once said ‘There was something genuinely sad about watching him arrive at Cabinet meetings with his papers unread, still tightly secured by their green ribbon.’

“Winston Peters’ record shows that he is not collegial enough to handle the sensitivities of this Committee. He’s been kicked out of three different Cabinets by three different Prime Ministers.

“Winston Peters is unable to retire because he has nothing else to offer the world outside Parliament. A man unequipped to run a lemonade stand should not be making decisions on New Zealand’s national security.

“Every party except ACT has buckled for Winston in an attempt to win his favour during post-election negotiations. You could barely hear what the other parties had to say, their mouths were so full of dead rat.

“Only ACT will say ‘NO’ to Winston Peters before and after the election.”
