Have your say on the Education (Teaching Council of Aotearoa) Amendment Bill

You have until 30 March 2018 to have your say on the Education (Teaching Council of Aotearoa) Amendment Bill. The Education and Workforce Committee is now inviting submissions on this bill.

The bill proposes that teachers should form the majority on their own professional body. It would amend the Education Act 1989 to:

• Rename the Education Council the Teaching Council

• Increase the membership of the council to 13, with the Minister of Education appointing six members of the council, and the teaching profession electing a further seven members.

Tell the Education and Workforce Committee what you think

Send your submission on the bill by midnight on 30 March 2018.
