Congratulations to the German
Chancellor Angela Merkel
The Rt Hon Winston Peters wishes
to extend his congratulations to the German Chancellor
Angela Merkel following the announcement that a new
government has been formed in Germany.
“Putting
together a government can be a tough process, as the leader
of the Christian Democratic Union Party has again
discovered, so I congratulate her on her success in forming
the new coalition government,” said Mr. Peters.
“New
Zealanders will recall that during the 11 days it took from
the return of the writs to the day Labour-New Zealand First
Coalition Government was announced, many in New Zealand
media accused us of holding the country to ransom.
One can
only admire the German people for their forbearance during
the 153 days it took for the government to be formed in
Germany,” Mr. Peters
added.
