Oil and gas decision will cost each household $4000
Tuesday, 17 April 2018, 9:27 am Press Release: ACT New Zealand
Oil and gas decision will cost each household $4000
"The Government’s decision to end offshore
exploration of oil and gas will cost New Zealand at least
$6.2 billion, according to documents released during election
negotiations”, says ACT Leader David Seymour.
"We
now know at least some of the costs involved with this PR
stunt. Each household will be at least $4000 worse off.
“But that’s not the full extent of it.
"The
cost to New Zealanders is likely to be much higher because
these figures don’t include the benefits of new
discoveries of oil and gas.
"Nor do they take into
account the full impact of lost employment, or the costs of
lower security of energy supply and alternative energy
sources.
“Jacinda Ardern’s 'make policy first,
ask questions later’ approach to Government will batter
struggling Kiwi families with higher energy cost, lower
employment opportunities and wages”, says Mr Seymour.

Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik... More
