Partisan health review a joke

The Government’s announcement that a review of the health system will be run by an advisor to the Prime Minister shows it is a completely partisan affair, says David Seymour.

“Heather Simpson is still listed as being employed in the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s office.

“There is no way that this review can deliver an objective and impartial view of the problems facing our health system.

“It is a completely political exercise and will simply deliver whatever the Government wants it to.

“The state has delivered heath services for decades.

“We’ve seen health budgets increase year after year, while indicators like patient satisfaction, access to primary health care, and self-rated health, are static or declining.

“The issues with our health system are structural.

“A comprehensive review of the health system would look at ways we could introduce greater private sector involvement to ensure New Zealanders get the best possible health services for their tax dollars”, says Mr Seymour.
