Acting PM can't answer questions

Parliament is unable to hold soon-to-be Acting Prime Minister Winston Peters on the welfare system given his current legal action, says ACT Leader David Seymour.

This afternoon in the House, Mr Seymour questioned Mr Peters about superannuation.

Mr Peters, answering on behalf of Jacinda Ardern, refused to answer, citing the sub judice rule.

“It is unacceptable that our soon-to-be acting Prime Minister is unable to answer basic questions about the welfare system because he is currently suing the government.

“It is now impossible for the Opposition to properly hold the Acting Prime Minister to account because he can simply cite the sub judice rule.

“Jacinda Ardern should have handed the prime ministerial duties to someone one that is not tied up in the courts", says Mr Seymour.
