Phil Twyford’s housing announcement this morning shows KiwiBuild is an elaborate deception that will do nothing to solve the housing crisis, according to ACT Leader David Seymour.
“The Government is simply buying existing private sector homes, placing a KiwiBuild logo on them, and adding a set of bureaucratic rules around who can buy them.
“This policy does nothing to add to the housing supply and will not solve the housing crisis.
“Houses are expensive because regulation has been made land artificially scarce.
“The Government has not done anything to change this. As far as we can tell, Cabinet has not even discussed changes to the Resource Management Act.
“The Government was elected to solve the housing crisis. Nine months in, it is desperately failing.
