Minister must release conflict of interest report

Health Minister David Clark is continuing to battle conflict of interest allegations from appointing Deloitte to review the failing $90 million National Oracle Solution IT programme, National’s Associate Health spokesperson Dr Shane Reti says.

“Under questioning in Parliament, Dr Clark revealed the AuditNZ report had concerns with conflicts of interest with the appointment of Deloitte as a supposed “independent” reviewer of the National Oracle Solution.

“This was confirmed by AuditNZ and the Auditor-General’s office when they appeared before the Health Select Committee.

“Yet the Minister is refusing to release the report. What is the Minister hiding and how serious are these conflicts?

“Cabinet will be making important funding decisions of tens of millions of dollars based on the original Deloitte review.

“The Minister needs to immediately release the report so we know how independent or biased that review was.

“The whole National Oracle Solution review has been a debacle from the start with conflicted reviewers, the review not assessing whether the programme is fit-for-purpose and now the Minister is refusing to release a bad news AuditNZ report.

“I have laid a complaint with the Ombudsman for the release of the AuditNZ report.

“Following on from conflict of interest allegations in the Haumaha inquiry, this ‘open and transparent’ Government is becoming more questionable by the day.”
