New Zealand First Welcomes Electricity Price Review Discussion Document

New Zealand First Deputy Leader and Energy Spokesperson Fletcher Tabuteau welcomes the Electricity Price Review discussion document released today by Energy and Resources Minister Hon Megan Woods.

“I’d like to congratulate the review panel for their extensive work producing a comprehensive and thorough report,” Mr Tabuteau said.

“A full-scale review into retail power pricing is one of our commitments in the Labour-New Zealand First Coalition Government agreement. We are pleased to see this discussion document, as phase one of the process, now complete.

“It provides a much needed overview of the state of New Zealand’s electricity sector and the key issues that need to be addressed.

“Consumers and industry, as part of phase two of the review, are now able to have an equal say about the impact of the current electricity sector on their lives by way of making submissions on this report,” Mr Tabuteau said.

The report can be found here and the chair’s letter to stakeholders detailing the findings here.

Submissions on the report close on 23 October.
