Kelvin Davis to represent New Zealand at Bush Funeral
Minister Kelvin Davis will represent the New Zealand Government at Wednesday’s state funeral for President George H. W. Bush, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced today.
President Bush passed away at the weekend at the age of 94. He served as President of the United States of America from 1989 to 1993.
“The United States is an important partner to New Zealand. It’s appropriate we honour the passing of a former US President with senior Government representation at his state funeral,” Jacinda Ardern said.
Minister Davis, who is currently in the United States taking part in activities related to his tourism portfolio, will extend his trip to attend the funeral, joining American and international dignitaries and members of the Bush family at the service to be held at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
