Government must act on synthetic cannabis
The return of synthetic cannabis to store shelves should be a signal to use the special powers given to it to remove these products from our shelves, Labour Associate Health spokesperson Iain Lees-Galloway says.
“This year the Misuse of Drugs Act was amended to give the Government the power to quickly remove substances from shelves,” Iain Lees-Galloway said
“If the Government doesn't do that these products will stay on the shelf and that makes a mockery of the legislation.
“We need to keep untested products out of our kids' hands. We don't know if they are safe or not and we must not experiment on our kids.
“New Zealand needs to step-up and ensure that we are able to offer our young people comprehensive support and rehabilitation where needed when it comes to drugs,” Iain Lees-Galloway said.
