The committee did not meet this week.
Education and Science
The committee did not meet this week, and is not expected to meet again this year.
Finance and Expenditure
The committee met on 12 December when it considered the reports from the Controller and Auditor-General, Immigration New Zealand: Supporting new immigrants to settle and work, Inquiry into the Mangawhai community wastewater scheme, Summary: Inquiry into the Mangawhai community wastewater scheme, Department of Corrections: Managing offenders to reduce reoffending, Central Government: Results of the 2012/13 audits (Volume 1) and Public entities in the social sector: Our audit work.
The committee also considered the Taxation (Annual Rates, Employee Allowances, and Remedial Matters) Bill and set a closing date for the receipt of submissions of Wednesday, 5 February 2014.
The committee also considered the 2012/13 financial review of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand’s Financial Stability Report, November 2013 and heard evidence from the Governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand on the Reserve Bank of New Zealand’s Monetary Policy Statement, December 2013.
The committee will next meet on 29 January 2014.
Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade
This week the committee heard evidence on the petition of Chris Hipkins and considered the international treaty examination of the Agreement on Port State Measures to Prevent, Deter and Eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing.
The committee will not be meeting again this year.
Government Administration
The committee met twice this week. On 10 December it considered the Parental Leave and Employment Protection (Six Month’s Paid Leave) Amendment Bill, and on 11 December the committee heard evidence on the 2012/13 financial reviews of the Department of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs. The committee also considered the Sullivan Birth Certificate Bill.
The committee is next meeting on 29 January 2014.
Health
The committee did not meet this week, and will next meet on 29 January 2014.
Justice and Electoral
This week the committee met on 10 December to consider the Judicature Modernisation Bill and the Electoral Amendment Bill.
The committee will next meet on 30 January 2014 to consider the 2012/13 financial reviews of the Ministry of Justice, the Crown Law Office, the Parliamentary Counsel Office, and of selected non-departmental appropriations for Votes Courts and Justice, to consider the Public Safety (Public Protection Orders) Bill, and to consider and hear evidence on the Human Rights Amendment Bill.
Law and Order
The committee met on 11 December to hear evidence on the 2012/13 financial reviews of the Department of Corrections and the New Zealand, and to consider the Victim’s Orders Against Violent Offenders Bill.
The committee will meet on 29 January 2014 to consider the 2012/13 financial reviews of the Serious Fraud Office, the New Zealand Police and the Department of Corrections. The committee will also consider the Sentencing (Protection of Children from Criminal Offending) Amendment Bill.
Local Government and Environment
The committee did not meet this week.
Māori Affairs
The committee met on 11 December to consider the 2012/13 financial review of the Ministry of Maori Development and non-departmental appropriations for Vote Maori Affairs, and the inquiry into determinants of wellbeing for tamariki Māori.
The committee will not be meeting next week.

The committee did not meet this week, and will next meet on 30 January 2014.

Regulations Review
The committee did not meet this week.
Social Services
The committee met on 11 December to consider the 2012/13 financial review of the Families Commission, the Retirement Commissioner, and the Children’s Commission, as well as its inquiry into the funding of specialist sexual violence social services, the Social Security (Clothing Allowances for Orphans and Unsupported Children) Amendment Bill, and the petitions of Graeme Axford and Vivian Needham. The committee also considered and heard evidence on the Veterans’ Support Bill. The meeting was open to the public during the hearings of evidence.
The committee is not scheduled to meet during the Christmas adjournment.
