Fair And Just New Policy to Support Ethnic Communities

UnitedFuture Leader Hon Peter Dunne will proudly announce the party’s new Ethnic Affairs and Immigration policy on Multicultural New Zealand’s political panel tomorrow morning.

“Over time, I have increasingly felt that as a nation we aren’t living up to our own expectations with respect to our Ethnic communities.

“With that in mind UnitedFuture sat down with a range of Ethnic community leaders and asked them how we can all do better.

“The result is a policy that addresses concerns raised and represents a sharp departure from the recent xenophobia expressed by Labour, New Zealand First and others” said Mr Dunne

UnitedFuture’s new policy initiatives include an immediate increase to the refugee quota to 1000 per year; and a new retirement visa for parents of citizens and permanent residents to join family members in New Zealand.

“We have seen an awful increase of racist, anti-migrant sentiments from other political parties as we lead up to the General Election.

“Our migrant communities are being wrongfully blamed for all manner of ills from rising house prices to a tight job market

“It is dishonest, it is hateful, and it is irresponsible for those in leadership to act in such a way” Mr Dunne said.

“This new policy responds to the needs of New Zealand’s Ethnic communities.

And it will foster more understanding and interaction between families who migrated here many years ago and those families who only just migrated here” said Ethnic Affairs spokesperson Sultan Eusoff.

“We have a strong history of achieving policy gains and a vote for UnitedFuture is a vote for an open-minded and multicultural twenty-first century New Zealand”
