Big Station Sold to Us Joint Venture

Another huge tract of Crown land has now gone into foreign hands, says New Zealand First.

“The 5342 hectares of land at Mount Creighton Station near Queenstown being freeholded from Crown lease has been approved for sale to a majority American-owned joint venture,” says New Zealand First Leader and Member of Parliament for Northland Rt Hon Winston Peters.

“It is being freeholded under the tenure review process. It was never supposed to operate in this way, giving foreigners freehold rights to New Zealand land.

“The Overseas Investment Office (OIO) rubber stamping machine continues to approve every application that comes its way.

“The sell-off of New Zealand land is continuing under National’s watch, along with New Zealanders’ future wealth and heritage. It must stop,” says Mr Peters.
