Speaker of Parliament visits Australia

The Speaker, Rt Hon David Carter, is visiting Australia next week as part of continuing to build effective working relationships between the New Zealand Parliament and the Parliament of Australia.

“The visit reinforces New Zealand’s commitment to our strong, cooperative relationship with Australia, and a shared commitment to strengthening Pacific parliaments” Mr Speaker said.

The Speaker and the Clerk of the House will hold a number of meetings, which will discuss communicating the work of parliaments with the public , exchanging views on the work of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, learn more about Queensland Parliament’s twinning arrangements with Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu, and explore other opportunities for our parliaments to work together.

The visit will take place from 26 February to 3 March 2017.
