Public Submissions Invited on the Statutes Amendment Bill (No 2)


The Governance and Administration Committee invites the public to have its say on the Statutes Amendment Bill (No 2). Introduced by virtue of standing order 262(1)(f), the Statutes Amendment Bill is an omnibus bill that consists of entirely of amendments to Acts.

Statutes Amendment bills are a common feature of the New Zealand system. They contain non-controversial amendments, such as corrections of drafting errors.

The Acts the bill proposes to amend are:

• Animal Welfare Act 1999
• Biosecurity Act 1993
• Care of Children Act 2004
• Child Support Act 1991
• Children, Young Persons, and Their Families Act 1989
• Companies Act 1993
• Coroners Act 2006 (and related amendments to other Acts)
• Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act 2003
• Crown Proceedings Act 1950 and related amendments
• District Court Act 2016
• Domestic Violence Act 1995
• Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelf (Environmental Effects) Act 2012
• Family Proceedings Act 1980
• Films, Videos, and Publications Classification Act 1993
• Fisheries Act 1996
• Government Superannuation Fund Act 1956
• Housing Corporation Act 1974
• International Finance Agreements Amendment Act 1966
• Justices of the Peace Act 1957
• Parole Act 2002
• Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 2006
• Policing Act 2008
• Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988
• Public Finance Act 1989
• Public Records Act 2005 (and consequential amendments to other Acts)
• Real Estate Agents Act 2008 (and consequential amendments to other Acts)
• State-Owned Enterprises Act 1986
• Te Rarawa Claims Settlement Act 2015
• Weights and Measures Act 1987.
