Give Loony Left Coverage Says Minister |
||
MINISTER FOR ACCIDENT REHABILITATION AND COMPENSATION INSURANCE
Media Statement
22 July 1999
ACC
Minister Murray McCully is urging journalists to "give
lavish coverage to tomorrow's Loony Left Conference on ACC,
sponsored by the CTU".
Both Alliance and Labour ACC spokespersons will address the Conference, as well as Labour leader Helen Clark.
Mr McCully says New Zealand employers have saved over $200 million in ACC premiums this year, and employees are benefiting from greater attention to workplace safety.
"The Government couldn't be happier at the prospect of the Labour Party having this high profile Conference to tell employers that they will scrap the savings which have been made.
"Reduced ACC premiums this year are the equivalent of a two cents reduction in corporate tax. Labour, out of blind ideology is saying it will re-impose that tax.
"I am especially pleased that Helen Clark will speak tomorrow. I hope she gets heaps of coverage. Every employer needs to know what she plans to do to them".
