Monday, 2 August 1999, 3:54 pm Press Release: ACT New Zealand
Monday 2nd Aug 1999 Rodney Hide Media Release --
Governance & Constitution
ACT Finance spokesman Rodney
Hide said today that it was no surprise Winston Peters had
backed out of supporting Max Bradford on his bungled
electricity reforms.
"Winston Peters has proved to
the National Party, Parliament and all New Zealanders
time and time again that can't be trusted. Winston
Peters is a populist without principle.
"Had National
stuck to their principles in the first place on the power
reforms they wouldn't have found themselves being burnt
again today by Winston Peters.
"New Zealanders are
sick and tired of Winston's bullying and demands. Prime
Minister Shipley should rule out dealing with Winston
Peters ever again. That would cause a huge sigh of relief
right around the country," said Rodney Hide.
