Alliance's regional commitment welcomed

"Labour shares the Alliance's belief that there is a constructive role for government in the economy and in regional development," Labour industry spokesperson Pete Hodgson said today.

Mr Hodgson was responding to the release of the Alliance's economic development policy.

"We do not agree with the Alliance in every detail. You would not expect that. We are, after all, different parties.

"But we do agree entirely with the Alliance that there needs to be a concerted effort by the public and private sector in partnership to move to more value-added exports and to reduce New Zealand's over-reliance on commodities," Mr Hodgson said.
