ACT president not in on the act in Coromandel |
||
TWO leading ACT party spokespeople have in the past week publicly stated the party is not standing a candidate in Coromandel, the Green Party says.
ACT president Sir Roger Douglas’ statement today that ACT had not considered not standing in Coromandel showed the party did not let its right hand know what it’s far right hand was doing, Green party co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons said.
Ms Fitzsimons said ACT deputy leader Ken Shirley last week told people at a public meeting in Whitianga that ACT would not stand a candidate in Coromandel and advised them to vote for the National candidate. National board member Vince Ashworth said the same thing speaking for the party at a meeting in Waihi.
“We’re polling ahead of National in the Coromandel and Sir Roger knows it,” Ms Fitzsimons said.
