"David Carter is lying when he suggests I spent time in the debating chamber after leaving today's meeting with West Coast logging interests," Labour finance spokesperson Michael Cullen said.

"He claims I spent the next hour in Parliament. I did not and will be seeking a retraction from any news media organisation which prints his claim.

"I went directly from the meeting the taxi I had waiting to take me to the airport for a flight to Auckland," Dr Cullen said.
