HAURAKI MARINE PARK BILL NEEDS A
BETTER TREATY CLAUSE: HENARE
Mauri Pacific would not
support the Hauraki Marine Park Bill its Leader, Hon Tau
Henare, said today.
"The party is not satisfied that the
treaty clause in the Bill encompasses the interests of
Hauraki and therefore we will not be supporting it," he
said.
"We're not convinced that there is no room to move
further on this issue. Our view has been made clear to our
colleagues in the National party for some time now.
"We
don't see the treaty clause as a major issue. There are
precedents in other pieces of
legislation."
