Truth was a casualty early in the running of the Election Stakes when it was bowled over by the two rank outsiders in the field.

Labour spokesperson on sport Trevor Mallard takes up the commentary.

"Peters, by Lack of Substance, out of Luigi, is a flashy lightweight. Prebble, by Far Right, out of Stuff the Workers, has shown consistent form in the Misleading Stakes.

"But in the race that really matters, both failed the dope-test and Truth was the big loser."
