Wellington Central Deal - Alliance Propping up Labour Again
The Rt Hon Winston Peters MP, Leader of New Zealand First, today said that in deciding to pull out of Wellington Central, the Alliance is again just propping up Labour.
"New Zealanders voted for MMP so that the two old parties would be forced to share political power - not so that their vote could be propped up before the election by a third party.
"That is why New Zealand First is standing a candidate in every electorate.
"The most effective campaigners for the Labour Party are presently Jim Anderton and the Alliance Party," said Mr Peters.
Mr Peters said that the public were tired of secret deals and politicians colluding to determine the result of the election - instead of just letting the public decide on Election Day.
"In this respect Labour and the Alliance are identical to ACT and National and it is high time that they all put their cards on the table and disclosed to the public what other deals are being done," said Mr Peters.
