Press Release: ACT New Zealand

ACT Finance spokesman Rodney Hide said today that
Labour's Dr Michael Cullen had no credibility on tax
policy.
"There's no excuse with the Pre-Election Fiscal
Update now out for any Party not costing its policies. Dr
Cullen has failed to do that.
"There's a simple reason.
Dr Cullen doesn't understand Budget numbers and he can't
square Labour's spending promises with his tax
policies.
"Cullen has no credibility on tax. At the very
least he should explain exactly how Labour intends to pay
for their promises. It's not enough for Dr Cullen simply
to assume that he can spend each dollar raised in tax ten
times over," concluded Rodney Hide.

Gordon Campbell: On the Sony cyber attack
Given the layers of meta-irony involved, the saga of the Sony cyber attack seemed at the outset more like a snarky European art film than a popcorn entry at the multiplex.
Yet now with (a) President Barack Obama weighing in on the side of artistic freedom and calling for the US to make a ‘proportionate response’quickly followed by (b) North Korea’s entire Internet service going down, and with both these events being followed by (c) Sony deciding to backtrack and release The Interview film that had made it a target for the dastardly North Koreans in the first place, then ay caramba…the whole world will now be watching how this affair pans out.
