Peters Responds To NBR Allegation
Friday, 19 November 1999, 11:39 am
Press Release: New Zealand First Party
|
The Rt Hon Winston Peters MP, Leader of New Zealand First,
today responded to the NBR story (19/11/99) alleging an
outstanding New Zealand First debt.
“Campaign expenditure
relates to the New Zealand First Party not myself personally
and it is defamatory to suggest otherwise.
“In recent
weeks enquiries on behalf of New Zealand First to Grey
Advertising as to the amount outstanding were only recently
responded to.
“The NBR are just continuing their campaign
against myself and New Zealand First on which I guarantee
substantial legal action.
“New Zealand First has always
met its financial obligations and in this case we are simply
waiting for some matters to be clarified,” said Mr
Peters.

Gordon Campbell: On the Sony cyber attack
Given the layers of meta-irony involved, the saga of the Sony cyber attack seemed at the outset more like a snarky European art film than a popcorn entry at the multiplex.
Yet now with (a) President Barack Obama weighing in on the side of artistic freedom and calling for the US to make a ‘proportionate response’quickly followed by (b) North Korea’s entire Internet service going down, and with both these events being followed by (c) Sony deciding to backtrack and release The Interview film that had made it a target for the dastardly North Koreans in the first place, then ay caramba…the whole world will now be watching how this affair pans out.
