Govt promises exceed available money

Promised Tax increases won’t pay for all this Promised spending

“The new government is making promises that it won’t be able to keep. The tax increases won’t produce enough money to pay for it all.” says National’s Revenue Spokesperson, Annabel Young MP.

“They are creating an expectations gap. Either they will need to raise more money somewhere or there are cuts that they haven’t told us about.”

“It is naïve of the new Ministers to think that they fund it all out of savings. To date, even Labour’s frugality regime hasn’t produced any real cut in expenditure on Ministers’ offices.”

Annabel young was commenting on the Speech from the throne today. “It is a great leap backward that would make McGillicudy proud.”
