F16s Were Always The Wrong Option - NZ First

New Zealand First Leader, Rt Hon Winston Peters said today that the decision to cancel the purchase of the F16s was the right one as it was always the wrong option for the New Zealand Defence Force.

“Given the future of New Zealand’s defence commitments, the F16s were not only the wrong technology but were also inappropriate when considering the needs for the geographical area in which New Zealand’s Defence Forces are traditionally deployed.

“The decision to buy F16s was just one of a series of bad decisions and non-decisions made by the National Party whilst in government,” said Mr Peters.
