The PSA said today the Government's response to the findings of the Hunn Review of the Department of Work and Income will go a long way to addressing the issues raised.

‘We go on record to welcome the willingness to work in partnership shown by the Department’s senior management and the Social Services Minister, Steve Maharey ’, PSA national secretary Richard Wagstaff said.

These initiatives ‘cement the positive and meaningful work already being carried out by PSA members and department officials.’

The PSA had a ‘clear and unequivocal goal to work in partnership with the Department to achieve the delivery of better quality services and better quality jobs,’ he said.

‘We want our members to have direct, collective participation in the managing of their work, their training and their career development. All of these things are critical to increasing the Department's capacity to delivery quality services to New Zealanders.

‘We believe much has been achieved for the future already, ahead of - but in line with - the Government's response today,’ Mr Wagstaff said.
