The Anti-Bases Campaign is pleased to announce that we (at long last) have our own Webpage.

You can find us at http://www.converge.org.nz/abc/

There you will find basic information on the three bases of concern to us - Waihopai, Tangimoana, and Harewood. Waihopai is the one to which we devote most attention. Plus an introduction to "Peace Researcher", our regular journal.

I should say that this Webpage is definitely an unfinished symphony. Our Webmistress has gone away on her Big OE, and the site definitely needs both updating and filling out. However, we decided that half a loaf is better than none, and what there is of it is well worth a look.

Heartfelt thanks are due to Converge, which provides free hosting to worthy and poor groups such as ourselves; Plain Communication for their invaluable help in getting it uploaded; and to Melanie Thomson (in absentia) for creating it.

Gordon Campbell: On the Sony cyber attack

Given the layers of meta-irony involved, the saga of the Sony cyber attack seemed at the outset more like a snarky European art film than a popcorn entry at the multiplex.

Yet now with (a) President Barack Obama weighing in on the side of artistic freedom and calling for the US to make a ‘proportionate response’quickly followed by (b) North Korea’s entire Internet service going down, and with both these events being followed by (c) Sony deciding to backtrack and release The Interview film that had made it a target for the dastardly North Koreans in the first place, then ay caramba…the whole world will now be watching how this affair pans out.
