Federated Farmers: Government's Response To Monetary Policy Review Thoughtful And Considered
"The Government's proposed response to the recommendations of the independent Review of the Operation of Monetary Policy is sound," said Federated Farmers President Alistair Polson.
"Monetary Policy cannot be left to be run by committees and it is pleasing that the Government has rejected the recommendation of the Review in respect to setting up a formal Monetary Policy Committee of the Reserve Bank."
"Retaining the Governor's sole responsibility for monetary policy was crucial in providing transparency in monetary policy decision making and retaining the confidence of financial markets," said Mr Polson.
Mr Polson urged other political parties to endorse the proposed recommendations of government to ensure New Zealand retains its leading edge in respect to our framework for the setting of monetary policy.
