ALRANZ Condemns Melbourne Murder of Security Guard

"ALRANZ condemns the cold-blooded murder of Steven Rogers, a security guard at an East Melbourne abortion clinic who was shot down yesterday morning." Craig Young, Research Officer for the Abortion Law Reform Association of New Zealand said today.

"We hope that this tragedy means that the New Zealand and Australian state and federal governments will introduce strengthened abortion clinic security legislation and other safeguards as soon as possible."

Mr.Young said ALRANZ would submit their own proposals for clinic protection laws, based on the British Columbia Access to Abortion Services Act 1994, to government within the next week.
