17 October 2001 - International Day for the Eradication of Poverty
The Wellington People's Centre in conjunction with local foodbanks will be gathering on parliament lawns at 12:30pm on Wednesday (17 October). It is 'International Day for the Eradication of Poverty' and the People's Centre will be reminding the government that basic benefit levels are too low.
The gathering happens to fall on the same day as the Save Our Squadrons march. 'Food not Bombs' have been invited to participate. Bread and cheese will be handed out from foodbanks to people on parliament lawns - everyone is invited.
