DPB Advocates Bite Hard On The Hand That Feeds |
||
Today DPB advocates shredded WINZ documents in a protest in Wellington Central.
"This is an outrageous insult to those passers-by who work in downtown Wellington to support these people," says Lindsay Mitchell, Petitioner for a Parliamentary review of the DPB.
"The protesters are saying, ' We will not have our eligibility for the DPB questioned and we won't sign work plans.' Yet workers are constantly having to sign contracts and prove their eligibility for their jobs. What for? The privilege of keeping beneficiaries ?"
"It delights me to see these people showing their true colours. They may as well have taken to the streets chanting 'My rights, your responsibility', because that is what their actions amount to."
