CTU To Take Up Workplace Privacy Issues
05 April 2002
The Council of Trade Unions is seeking clarification of workers privacy rights following the revelation that the Ministry of Health uses surveillance cameras in rest homes.
CTU president Ross Wilson has asked The Privacy Commissioner to meet to discuss the issues.
“It is not surprising that the caregivers who were being spied on with surveillance cameras were outraged and felt their privacy rights were being infringed,” he said.
“This situation raises real concerns for all workers about what privacy rights they have while at work,’ said CTU president Ross Wilson.
