Retirement Savings Plans On Track, Says PSA

The PSA is pleased to be part of the government's development of a retirement savings system for the state sector which is showing tangible results, PSA national secretary Bryce Fleury said today.

"The Minister announced today plans to develop a retirement savings scheme for teachers and principals and for provision for public servants further down the track.

"Employer retirement income contributions in the state sector is a key issue for our members. As part of the working party guiding policy advice to government on retirement savings, we are pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to something that is of such significance to our members. "

Bryce Fleury said the PSA welcomed the Minister's stated intention that he will be looking at plans for introducing employer funding across the wider state sector within the next term of government.

"Saving for retirement is an important issue for all New Zealanders and we are pleased the government is taking this lead as a good employer."
