Calling All D-DAY Veterans

June 6, 2004 is the 60th anniversary of D-Day, and Veterans’ Affairs New Zealand (VANZ) is interested in hearing from New Zealand veterans who served during the Allies’ invasion of Western Europe.

There were no New Zealand units among the invasion force, but 4700 New Zealanders took part while attached to the Royal Navy, and another 6000 were attached to the Royal Air Force.

VANZ director Jessie Gunn says her department wants Kiwi veterans of D-Day to contact VANZ on free phone 0800 483 8372.
