Industry Training up 11%
"People in
industry training are up 11% on the same time last year -
good news for reducing skills shortages", said Darel Hall
Executive Director of the Industry Training Federation.
"The number in training as at the end of June 2004 was
95,952 compared to 86,227 at the same time in 2003.
"There
has been strong growth in training in a range of industries
including: building, community support, joinery, dairy and
meat processing, crane operations, public sector and
seafood.
"Reducing skill shortages so that New Zealand's
economic development can maintain momentum is a key priority
for industry. The latest figures show that we are still on
the right track", said Darel Hall.
