Harmony In Society
At its recent Conference, the National Council of Women of New Zealand (NCWNZ) affirmed its abhorrence of all forms of racism. "We are experiencing overt demonstrations of racism in New Zealand," said incoming President Christine Low "that do not provide for harmony in New Zealand society."
"Everyone should be able to express their individual cultural and religious beliefs and have the understanding of fellow New Zealanders."
"The foundation of society is the collective values that people hold. Living in harmony comes from working well with one another and understanding each others values and beliefs," continued Christine Low. "Insulting or attacking any one sector of society is not acceptable behaviour," she concluded.
