TEAR Fund launches Gift for Life catalogue
Have you ever struggled to purchase a Christmas gift for the person who has everything?
How about buying them a goat - for a family in Afghanistan, or a midwife kit - for a birth attendant in Cambodia?
Aid agency TEAR Fund New Zealand has launched a new initiative called Gift for Life. Purchases from the Gift for Life catalogue provide practical items and assistance to poor people in the developing world.
The catalogue includes eight gifts, which range in price from $25, for a midwife kit, to $400, which buys playground equipment for Ugandan orphans.
Other gifts include cows, schoolbooks, literacy teachers, Microenterprise loans and toys for hospitalised children in Iraq.
"When spent in the right place, even a small amount of money can make a significant difference. Gifts in this catalogue empower entire communities, bringing hope to those in desperate need," says TEAR Fund Executive Director Stephen Tollestrup.
