October Monthly Economic Indicators Released
The October
Monthly Economic Indicators (MEI) was published on the
Treasury Website at 2pm. The report provides a summary of
recent economic events with a focus on economic activity in
the September quarter.
Domestic demand remains strong and
looks likely to sustain growth in GDP over the rest of the
year. We continue to expect growth to slow over 2005 with
the easing in net migration inflows, recent increases in
interest rates begining to slow growth in domestic demand
and the terms of trade likely to ease from its current high
level.
