FreeZaoui.org.nz welcomes the decision of the Supreme Court in granting Ahmed Zaoui bail.

“This represents a major step forward for New Zealand's reputation on human rights” said Alex Davidson, the site's creator. “It is a pity that it has taken this long for our process to deliver a fair result, but we have at last achieved it.”

“Although the case is by no means complete, todays decision is positive indicator for all New Zealanders who support human rights, due process, decency and humanity.

“It is important to continue demonstrating public support for Ahmed Zaoui and his right to a fair trial until the review of the Security Risk Certificate issued against him is completed."

Yet now with (a) President Barack Obama weighing in on the side of artistic freedom and calling for the US to make a ‘proportionate response’quickly followed by (b) North Korea’s entire Internet service going down, and with both these events being followed by (c) Sony deciding to backtrack and release The Interview film that had made it a target for the dastardly North Koreans in the first place, then ay caramba…the whole world will now be watching how this affair pans out.
